Fostered In Wisconsin
Daily Routine: Hi, I am Barnaby and I like to wake up in the morning to belly rubs! I usually go outside potty right away and run around with my big fur brother. We usually come inside and follow mom or wrestle until breakfast time. I eat way too fast! Having come from the streets with my siblings I had to eat quickly to survive. Mom slows me down with tennis balls in my dish. After breakfast I play with my brother, chew on bones, destroy stuffies, look for attention, play outside, walk, kiss my family, tear through dinner, get more belly rubs, chew on bones and run around with Smokey until we get sleepy. I roam between the living room and my foster parents bedroom at night.
What I love to do: I love walks! I'm kinda strong for a little guy, I love squirrels and zigg-zagging and pulling on the leash. I actually do much better if walking with another well trained walker than I do by myself, so my ideal home would have someone to remind me how its done. I have done a bit of jogging with mom too! I have more energy since I am a mix.
Personal goals: I occasionally need some reminders about dog toys and non-dog toys such as kid toys, furniture, underwear. I am good at puppy proofing a home by showing you right away what stuff I might get into, such as laundry. But I have been pretty good as long as things are kept picked up. I can also get a bit crabby if other dogs come near me when I have a bone. I have gotten better about that, but again, I had to defend myself on the streets. I am also ok in the car but I don't love it.
Favorite thing to do with my best friend: My BFF is a Shepard mix named Smokey and I love him! I used to live with a small dog and big cat as playmates and I loved that too. Smokey was pretty intimidating at first because he would pounce and try to get me to play, but now I bounce all over him, bite on his face, and generally rumble with him all day long. Occasionally we get too rowdy, but mostly its just joyful playtime. We like running, wrestling, and playing tug-of-war.
Kind of family I want: I would really like a family that is around a fair amount. Of my two foster homes, one person worked from home and the other is a stay at home mom, so I am used to being able to go out potty and to run around frequently. I cannot promise not to have accidents or get into things in a home where I would be home alone a lot. I would ideally have a fenced yard, a furry playmate, and plenty of attention from family members big and small. I love snuggling and licking faces. I do get a bit excited and jumpy sometimes but I am not very big. I need exercise and LOVE going outdoors so hikes are fun! I don't mind the cold even though I came from Texas. But I cannot be trusted off leash at all. I do sometimes get scared by hostile dogs or loud truck sounds so it's important that I am secure on walks. My vet also wants a family to keep me on joint supplements because my bouncy energy and crooked front legs are not the best combination.
Biggest fears: I do get spooked a bit by some strangers, loud noises that are unfamiliar, and strange dogs that bark at me. I am a funny combination of timid and fearless, depending on the situation.
Ideal weekend plans: I just enjoy being with my family walking, playing and snuggling! Some treats would be awesome too!
