Fostered In Wisconsin
Hi, I'm Buddy and I am just finishing treatment for heart worm. I was rescued from Alabama and haven't been in Wisconsin long but my foster mom has learned a bit about me.
Daily Routine: I like to get up and get moving. After breakfast I enjoy some cuddle time with my foster mom before she leaves for work. After that I look around to see if she has left anything good to eat around on the tables or counters. Then I drag every chew bone and stuffie out of the basket and take turns chewing on them. When she gets home I jump up and down because I'm so happy. She says I must be part rat terrier, whatever that is!
What I love to do: The basset 500 is one of my favorite things to do, zooming around and around the house like a little dervish. I love to sniff things outside and I know I could catch one of the rabbits out in the yard if mom would just let me off the leash! My other best thing is being a lap dog - I can cuddle up with mom in her easy chair and watch TV with her for hours.
Personal goals: I think it's mom who needs training. She hasn't learned my schedule yet. I do have accidents in the house because when I'm outside I am too busy smelling all the amazing smells to get down to "business." When we go for long walks I wait to poop until we are almost back home. But mom says I'm a smart boy and she knows I can learn to do it right!
Favorite thing to do with my best friend: To be honest, I'm not too fond of cats. Well, there is one in the house I quite like, but I can't get her to play with me, even though I play bow and dance around her to get her to do the things I enjoy. I actively dislike the other cats, though, and growl and bark at them when they come too near. We haven't met any other dogs on our walks so I don't know how I would like them. I think it would be case-by-case. But I really want to be an only pet so I can get all the attention myself.
Kind of family I want: I'd like a family with lots of time to pay attention to ME! It's all about ME! I don't think younger kids would be a good fit for me, because I am quite food and toy possessive and I wouldn't want to bite a child by mistake. And someone willing to take me for long walks and give me a chance to work off some of the zoomies would be great. To be honest, it's mainly the other animals I'm threatening towards. They might want to steal my kibble or my Kong! Oh, and a fenced yard would be ideal!!!!!
Biggest fears: What fears???
Ideal weekend plans: I'm a goofy boy who love to run. And run! I'd really like to run and meet my new forever home family. I just know they are looking for me right now.
If Buddy might be the one for you, please fill out an application under the "Adoption" heading and a volunteer will reach out to you.
