Fostered In Wisconsin
Hi, I am Hunter, but foster mom likes to refer to me as Hank the Tank!
Daily Routine: I like to wake up with the sun, ready to rumble. Wrestling my dog friends is what I live for. I eat my breakfast away from other dogs (as all the dogs in the house do) and I like to scarf my food. I prefer to know a person is in the room however, or I may not eat. I am potty trained and go outside to potty and run with the other dogs or kids. Then I come in and rest for a while. My foster mom and her 4 year old girl are home with us during the day or in and out on short errands. I do enjoy someone being home and do cry a bit when they leave. We like to play in the yard, snuggle and watch TV, bark at the neighborhood, and I wrestle a lot with two of the four dogs I live with. At night everyone comes home and it's time to scarf up dinner, walk with the family, play, and get ready for bed. I try to sleep with the kids but get fear of missing out, so then I go between my foster parents room and the living room, and they have not had any problems with me roaming freely at night or when home alone during the day.
What I love to do: I live to wrestle and also enjoy time with my people. My former family loved me, but due to intensely busy lives and no other fur siblings, they knew I was not happy. My new home MUST have another dog that loves physical play and people that have time for me every day. I also love walks! I pull on a leash and start out a bit sassy, but settle into it and walk nice. Although then I start doing the typical basset stop-to-smell-everything-thing.
Personal goals: I am a counter surfer extraordinaire and have really perfected my skill with sheer blazing speed. I'm very proud of that fact, but my foster family is quite on to it, so nothing is left on counters or table, and no kids with food are left alone with me. I might need a little work on taking a treat GENTLY. I also can get excited and jump up on people sometimes, which can be tough with small kids, though the four year old here is dog savy and doesn't get upset. I can also get vocal, though it's mainly instigated by other dogs, or I use it if no one wants to play with me and I feel ignored! Because of my low basset rumble I would not make a good apartment or condo dweller.
Favorite thing to do with my best friend: I will leave old dogs alone if they don't want to play but my new home must absolutely have at least one playful dog that likes to wrestle. I mean full on body contact, bodies flying through the air, ears getting pulled, butts a wiggling, royal rumble style. I come alive when I get to run and bounce and play with a canine who gets me. I am not dominant but I am not shy either, I just love to keep the good times rolling.
Kind of family I want: I need a family who has plenty of time to make me a part of the family and not an accessory. My previous family knew that due to medical issues, etc, I could not get the attention I craved and I was rather depressed. My first mom told foster mom I would stare at the walls and my only real joy was when I could go to daycare or we had small human visitors. I sparkle in my foster home and I am looking for a permanent home that will give my personality the tools to shine.
Biggest fears: I can be alone-my family leaves me out with other dogs with no issue-but I am happiest knowing someone can be home a fair amount. So far I am not a huge fan of the vacuum. I also have fear of missing out! I am so curious about everything. I licked a guinea pig and I liked it but I cannot be trusted alone with a hamster in a ball.
Ideal weekend plans: My ideal weekend is spent with my family, whether at home or exploring, just as long as they don't mind me romping. I like to play outside too, but mostly with a friend. I am certainly ready to Netflix and chill as well, I am a basset after all. In general, I am excited about all the good things life has to offer, and I am as typical basset as a basset can get, other than an above average energy level!
