Age: 9-10 years (est.)
Weight: 36 lbs.
Hi, my name is Olive. I hail from Texas where I received heartworm treatment so I could travel to Wisconsin. I was very underweight, but now the vet said I have attained an ideal weight at just 36lbs. I am petite but quick and ‘squirmy’ for my age. In fact, except for a bit of gray hair….foster mom says I act very young, and agile!! Here is some more information about me...
Daily Routine: I liked to go outside at 6 am or so. but then back to bed until 7 or 8 when I eat breakfast. After I eat it's usually time to head back outdoors and watch the neighborhood critters or hang out front with my humans to watch cars, people, and passing dogs. I also love daily naps as well as walks. Foster mom says you must be careful though, as it is easy to trip over me. It works best if I am on a short leash and you pay close attention to what I am doing! I am living with a large male basset and can get growly with him but he is super mellow and just ignores me and walks away.
What I love to do: I love to be pet and played with BUT I really enjoy my naps! I also love camping and watching strangers….because often they will stop and pet me! I love food and would certainly over-eat if given the chance! Honestly, I will jump and get anything edible that I can reach. Apparently I am a classic counter surfer!!!
Personal goals: I do have some ‘accidents’ in the house. Foster mom says I am trained but do NOT vocalize the need to go out. Usually I can go a couple of weeks without an accident and then….a wet spot on the rug!! But if I get scolded, I will be good for several days and even up to a couple of weeks….and then it happens again. I have ‘piddle pads’ and stay in the laundry room when no one is home and I will use those if I need to go.
Favorite thing to do with my best friend: I tend to ignore dogs I meet and prefer to be with humans, taking walks and hanging out. I don't live with cats so not sure how that would go.
Kind of family I want: I do well with older children and love the grandkids that come here. Grand dogs on the other hand are ok BUT I prefer that they leave me be. I do NOT do more than a few steps and won't go down to the family room in the basement here. I am happy to get up on the couches and chairs but have never jumped on the people beds. My dog bed is next to the people bed and that is just fine with me.
Biggest fears: I am not afraid of much but I did crawl into bed with furry foster brother Bash during a thunderstorm, until he moved to my bed.
Ideal weekend plans: I love walks, and visits with other family members, and running! I am quick and will dash away and cross the street in a flash so I need to run in a secure space. A leash needs to be attached to me BEFORE opening the door. I am fast and can squeeze by you in a flash! Foster mom calls me quite the little escape artist…..so be aware!
If you think I could be "the one", head over to the "Adoption" heading where you can find the online application and more information about the adoption process.
