Age: 8 years old (est.)
My name is Snow Bear and I was found as a stray in Texas. I am a very special boy with a lot of love in my life now, and people helping me learn to dog without fear. Where I come from, life was scary and I learned if I wanted to survive I needed to be so careful. But I am making great strides now that I have confident dog friends, steady meals, a warm bed and someone to teach me to walk on a leash. I have had a lot of experience at the vet clinic getting neutered, shots, dewormed and dental work. I am ready to enjoy the better parts of life!
The home I need will be very patient and loving, and comfortable working with me to improve my confidence. New people are scary and I need to build trust. I need a confident (but not overbearing) canine companion to take the lead and let me follow. I must have a fenced yard, a tie-out will not work in my case. I have been fearful of leashes, at least since the snare pole of animal control, so I need regular work to learn this is a positive thing. I have learned my name and will react when called but I am not running into anyone's arms just yet. I can eat in the same room as other dogs at meal times, and will even eat out of the hand of a person I trust. Food is a great motivator! I have come a long way during my time in foster care and need an adult home that will enjoy helping me continue to blossom. I will also need to continue with my medications to help me with pain from stiff joints, and my calming supplement to help with anxiety of new things.
